The parking lot is located directly at the publicly accessible Matzen Castle Park and is ideal for walks followed by dining at the Gut Matzen Restaurant with a view of the castle.

There are also numerous hiking trails around Matzen Park. Whether it's a family hike to the castle park or a castle circuit hike – Schloss Matzen is now operated as a hotel and, together with the castles and palaces in the area, such as Schloss Lipperheide, Schloss Lichtwehr, and Ruine Kropfsberg, is always a worthwhile stop. Additional hiking trails take you from the castle park up to Reith im Alpbachtal.
